What is Weld Kerf
Weld Kerf is a special process in TubesT, which is capable to modify the original cutting path automatically and generate a new one to eliminate the interference between assembled parts because of their thickness. Generally, it is broadly applied in T-shaped, L-shaped and U-Steel parts jointing.
Example 1:
Two parts will interfere with each other due to their thickness when they need to be assembled to L or T shape.
Solution:
Select specific cutting path, and click Weld Kerf, then a new cutting path will be generated, the below is the actual cutting result finally.
Besides, if you want to realize T-shaped joint of two parts, this process will also help you modify the cutting path automatically at one time.
Weld Kerf added:
Example 2:
Also, this process can be used to address the problem of U-Steel Beveling.
(a)For U-Steel rotating around X axis
(b)For U-Steel rotating around Z axis
Example 3:
Female/Male Joint
In version 1.25 or later, a new jointing way has been added in TubesT, named F/M Joint. It is capable to generate a kind of special cutting path by adding Weld Kerf process to cut the tube into different parts shaped by Female and Male ones which can be assembled in the ways of Female+Female and Female+Male as shown below.
Steps:
Semi-Weld and Semi-F,Semi-Weld and Semi-M
Besides, the thick rectangle beveling tubes with large chamfering may fail to joint with each other by gradually adding Weld Kerf due to the inside interference, but you’re allowed to select Semi-Weld and Semi-F or Semi-Weld and Semi-M to deal with it. The following shows how it works.
As shown above, a special and composite cutting path characterized by Weld Kerf and F/M Joint will be generated in this process.
